The Mule

Another Thursday maneuver with Finch to see the latest Clint Eastwood offering, The Mule . This movie had a lot of similar notes to Gran Torino, but that is no huge surprise since the producer, director and star are all the exact same guy, ol' Blondie.  I did often think of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, as Eastwood's age is so apparent, and essential to the plot.  The camera work showed the kind of slow motion that befalls us as old -age splashes befuddled expressions across bewildered, aging faces. Captain Marvel

Since Finch and I have free Thursdays for the next few weeks, we decided to make the most of it and go to an early afternoon showing of Captain Marvel .  I liked the characters and the comedy, although undersold at times, was enjoyable.  The turns of the story were nice and sometimes surprising. The basic structure of the film, though, seemed forced, almost as though this film is entirely an exposition for Avengers; End Game.  On its own, this is a feel good action film, but as a part of the Marvel universe, so late in the game, it felt 'clunky'.  The creators of this movie used it as a vehicle to to expand the backstories and forced it into the cannon, for better or worse.
