Pokemon Detective Pikachu
With the Avengers film loitering in theatres, it is movie-going winter, but Finch and I did rustle up the courage to go see Detective Pikachu. Finch mentioned, off-hand, that he had low expectations for the film, and I concurred, saying that it is Ryan Reynolds that drew me to the film.
With these lowered expectations, we had a fun time watching the movie. The comedy is targeted at a younger audience, though there is a scene with a mime that had some great moments, particularly the subtle, macabre ending to the scene. The CG was the driving force of the film, which is necessary, in my opinion, otherwise, we're all watching another Pokemon animation. I'm happy that I went to see it, but not sure if I would have if there were some other options.
